Keith Sykes is out featured artist this weekend. We will feature his music all weekend long beginning Friday morning.

Keith is a legendary singer/songwriter who hit the scene in 1969 with his debut self-titled album. He has written songs for artists as diverse as Rosanne Cash and George Thorogood, but he is probably best known to our listeners as a former Coral Reefer who wrote or co-wrote Buffett classics including Volcano and The Coast of Marseilles.

But Keith has released 13 full-length albums and his brand new EP “Songs From A Little Beach Town” will transport you to a spot on the coast that you won’t want to leave any time soon. Our Featured Artist Frenzy continues today with music from Marty Nickel, a singer songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia who has been active on the local music scene for the past ten years. With influences from Jimmy Buffett to Bob Marley his style is a mix of acoustic americana, folk and tropical music. Having won honorable mention in “American Songwriter’ magazine for his writing abilities. From ballads to beach music his songs are an eclectic mix of music. He plans to release a follow up to last year’s CD, Beach Colors, this summer.

Our first birthday celebration continues today with our Featured Artist Frenzy. Today we are featuring the music of the Wheeland Brothers, two Southern Californian brothers who grew up in Orange County. They combine fun, catchy melody and lyrics with the cool attitude and positive energy of reggae, as well as the down-to-earth, organic honesty of acoustic rock, ukulele lullabies, and flip flop hip hop. Sunshine music inspired by waves, hangin’ with friends, and dreaming of distant shores.
